Show Carolers are coming The Viewmont High School choral department has become well known locally and nationally for its excellent work and numerous achievements. The students, under the baton of conductor Jeanne McGuire, have been recognized by and have performed per-formed for such organizations as the National Association of Teachers of Music, the Utah Music Teachers Association, the State PTA and many others. This Christmas season, in what has become a prestigious tradition for the past five years, the choirs will present a concert in the Salt Lake Tabernacle on Temple Square. Friday, Nov. 23 is the evening even-ing of the annual Lighting of Temple Tem-ple Square, and the Viewmont concert con-cert will begin at 7:30 p.m. in the Tabernacle. The musical evening will include many traditional favorites as well as some new, not previously performed perform-ed works. The Combined Choirs and Tabernacle organist Clay Christiansen Chris-tiansen will perform "Ave Maria" featuring soprano soloist Meghan Dover and the famous Tabernacle organ will also be featured on such favorites as '0 Come, All Ye Faithful" and "Hallelujah!" from Handel VMessiah." The concert will begin with the choirs surrounding the audience and singing by candlelight from the balcony and will highlight the Concert Con-cert Choir, Sound Ideas and Madrigals in addition to numbers from the Combined Choir. The concert is free of charge to the public, and a capacity crowd is expected. |
