Show Gymnasts earn honors WOODS CROSS USA Gymnastics World gymnasts recently had six gymnasts qualify for spots on the four-state regional team; two of the six also earned positions on the junior national team. In the 10 to 1 1 -year-old category, Beau Bailey of Kaysville placed 35th in the country and fifth in the four-state region, qualifying him for a spot on the regional team. : Lance By bee of Centerville and Jon White of Farmington claimed the 19th and 20th places nationally qualifying both for spots on the Junior National Gymnastics Team. Bybee and White will travel to the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo, for a weeklong training camp with the United States team coaches. ; In the 12 to 13 -year-old age group, Trenton Brown of Centerville, ; Guard Young of Salt Lake and Chris Hart of Kaysville each qualified for the regional team. ' The athletes were asked to perform between two and seven skills on each apparatus and were judged on each skill. Competitors were also tested on their strength and flexibility. Skills were then com- ! puted into an overall score. The skills required at the 12 to 13-year-old level are the same skills that college-level gymnasts perform. Woods Cross' Casey Bryan, who currently holds the nation's second se-cond place ranking in the boys' up-to-16-y ears-old bracket, will i compete later this month for his placement on the national team.
