Show Foundation fulfills dreams The Make-A-Wish Foundation of Utah wants to remind Davis County residents who are planning to make a holiday donation this year to remember re-member it's a non-profit organization organiza-tion that helps sick children fulfill a dream. According to Christine Sharer, Make-A-Wish of Utah grants personal per-sonal wishes for Utah children with life-threatening illnesses. "Your holiday gift can give one special child a glorious present moment and a memory to cherish forever she said. Last year little Chad, 4, wished to see the Christmas lights on Temple Square. His family made their first trip away from the farm in northern Utah and spent a shining December vacation in Salt Lake. Chad has since lost his sight and is fighting bravely against his body's rejection of a liver transplant but those lights will shine on in his child's imagination imagina-tion forever. Brad, 16 years old, from Sandy, was dependent on three good friends to help him function well enough to stay in high school. Their care kept him going, despite the dystrophy that was rapidly claiming his body. Believing that he might be facing his last Christmas, he wished to play Santa for these three pals. He carefully chose special personal gifts for each of them. Stephanie, 7, came to Utah from hot, humid Florida. She wished to see her very best friend who had moved to Park City and she wished to "taste the snow, feel the cold and ride in a sleigh with bells.' Stephanie and the friend she loved spent their last winter holiday together in a splendid storm of snow. John was a teen-ager from the Midwest. He knew he would not live to see the holidays come around again. "Is there a place in the mountains," he wondered, "where it snows early? Where we can cut a Christmas tree and make believe?" His family and relatives accompanied him to a beautiful cabin in Utah. They celebrated Thanksgiving on Thursday and Christmas on Sunday, and filled those precious days with their family's holiday traditions. Sharer said these four examples show how money donated to the Make-A-Wish Foundation has brightened the lives of dying children, and she urges contribution from area residents.
