Garn explained the joy of operating in zero gravity. Senator operated in zero gravity the school's Heroes Month activities. Washington Elementary School students enjoyed a visit from Senator Sena-tor Jake Garn March 14. His vivid description of space travel and a film showing fascinating fas-cinating scenes of earth through the space shuttle Discovery's windows helped the children imagine what it would be like to be in space. They saw the Great Salt Lake and were awed by the beauty of the earth as seen from the space craft. "You can't imagine how much fun it is to operate in zero gravity," Garn told the students, as they enjoyed en-joyed scenes of the Senator flying a paper airplane and doing somersaults somer-saults in zero gravity. In response to students questions, ques-tions, he described sleeping in a canvas bag and drinking a "ball" of lemonade and strawberry soda with a straw. Senator Gam's visit was part of |
