Show County offices combined Box Elder County Commissioners voted yesterday to create a financial fi-nancial department in the county by combining the elected offices of auditor and treasurer. Commission Chairman Bob Valentine said, "The commission has considered the change since last year." The commission was originally going to appoint an auditortreasurer, but decided to leave it as an elected position giving voters a hand in the selection. County Auditor Carlla Secrist told the commissioner, "I don't like doing away with elected offices. But if the county goes that way, my department will work with it." Valentine said, "This is an opportune time to combine the offices. The present treasurer is not seeking reelection this fall." The two offices will be combined beginning Jan. 1991. The Leader |
