Show OLD-TIMERS IN SNAKE VALLEY ARE HONORED Mrs. Ramsey, aged 96; Mrs. E. W. Clay, aged 94, and Mr. E. W. day, aged 91, were jointly honored at an interesting party and dance given in the Baker High School building at Baker, Nevada, west of Milford, on Friday, February 14. Friends, neighbors and relatives from the valley, Milford, and many distant points attended the affair the pay homage to Snake Valley's oldest citizens. Early in the evening- the two ladies were presented with attractive attrac-tive corsages by a member of the entertainment committee, and later in the evening the guests were recipients of many lovely gifts, cards and flowers from friends from far and near. The hall was artistically and pro- iruseiy decorated an a spring nower effect. The interesting program was as follows: Song, Cliflf and Glen Bellander; reading, Walter Rowley; reading, Nelda Young; song, Oareene Bel-lander Bel-lander . and Sharon Simonson; a dance, Vera Dearden and LaMar Peterson; song, Alberta and Mary-lyn Mary-lyn Christopherson, great-granddaughters of Mrs. Clay; piano solo, Corrinne Clay, granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clay; song, Anna Marie McKenzie and Ina Ryder. Dancing was enjoyed by the many guests, and during the evening eve-ning a quadrille was danced while Mr. Clay gave the calls, just as he did many years ago for the dances given in Snake Valley. Delicious refreshments were served to about 200 guests. Everyone Every-one expressed sincere appreciation for the most enjoyable evening, and realized there had been almost unbelievable un-believable effort and time put in by the committee, composed of Mrs. Meecham, Gladys Christopherson and Vera Dearden. The large attendance attested to the respect and general friendship felt for these three aged people, i Mr. and Mrs. Clay were among the first settlers of Snake Valley, and, so far as is known, Mrs. Ramsey is the oldest woman in Millard County. Mrs. Ramsey keeps her own home and prepares the meals. Mr. and Mrs. Clay care for their own home, which Mr. Clay built with his own hands in his youth, and are always charming hosts to their many callers. |
