A new law passed during the last session of the Utah State Legislature gave the Board of Big Game Control the authority author-ity to determine the time hunters hunt-ers who obtain elk permits must wait before they can again receive an elk permit. Aftei hearing the recommendations recommen-dations of the public at various meetings, the Board decided to keep the waiting time at five years between elk permits, the same as it has been for many years. Hunters who have had elk permits in 1965, 1966, 1967 and 1968 are not eligible for elk permits this year. Elk application dates will be published in the Big Game' Proclamation Pro-clamation available in mid-July. mid-July. Data on migration of elk herds can be compiled in a relatively re-latively short time because of the increased number of reports re-ports received due to the bright collars and ear streamers. |
