Show Mapleton celebration ready j pf-war. A fresh egg throwing contest at 1:30 p.m., is expected expect-ed to result in much fun as will be the boiled egg and spoon race at 2:30 p.m. A knife trading contest, Indian In-dian wrestle and steal the flag contest are all to be included in the afternoon fun program. Citizens of surrounding communities com-munities and all former residents resi-dents of Mapleton are invited to the city Thursday. July 24th to help celebrate. It will be a time for visiting, renewing acquaintances ac-quaintances and enjoying the entertainment in general. Events are planned throughout through-out the day from the early morning salute to the evening fireworks and the Mapleton Mountain hike. The parade at 9 a.m. promises prom-ises to be outstanding. Under direction ol the Primary organization or-ganization with Donna Rieske. chairman, this phase of the celebration always proves popular pop-ular and entertaining and this year will be no exception. Response Res-ponse has been good and some very fine floats are expected. Everyone is invited to the parade par-ade and to stay at the park all day. The breakfast at 6:30 a.m. will be the major event preceding preced-ing the parade with the Second Sec-ond Ward bishopric in charge. At this time also there will be a flag raising ceremony. Horse relay races are planned plan-ned for 9:30 a.m., foot races at 9:45 a.m. There is to be a log sawing contest at 11:30 a.m. and a barrel rolling contest at 12 noon, followed by foot races for all ages. Throughout the day. there will be concessions at the park. At 1 p.m., all are invited to assemble for a drawing for the JC prize followed by a tug- MODERN PIONEERS The Mapleton Second and Third Ward MIA's work on a float to be seen in the miniature parade July 24th. It will commemorate the 100th anniversary anniver-sary of YYVMIA. In pioneer costume a:-e the following young people, Mark Rieske, cowboy; Pat Riding, Indian; Brent Anderson, Paul Ogilvie, cowboys; John Ogilvie, Indian; Susan Riding, Gaye Rieske and Jean Riding in pioneer costume anxiously waiting the day of the parade to come. |
