Show Funeral services held here for Virgil Bird Funeral services were held Wednesday in the Second-Eighth Second-Eighth ward chapel for Virgil Bird, 78, retired motel operator, opera-tor, who died Saturday night, April 6, 1968, of a heart ailment, ail-ment, at a hospital in Mesa, Arizona, where they had spent the winter. Bishop William G. Ruff of the Eighth ward officiated. Burial was in the Evergreen cemetery, directed by Wheeler Mortuary. Mr. and Mrs. Bird were making mak-ing arrangements to return to their home at 120 East 200 South in Springville and he was at the hospital for a check up when stricken. Born in Springville November 21, 1889, he was a son of Richard Rich-ard LeRoy and Elizabeth Wells Mendenhall Bird. He married Ivy Hall, June 4, 1913, in the Salt Lake IDS temple and she died April 24, 1935. He later married Lucille Clayson in the Salt Lake Temple. For a number of years he engaged in farming and cattle raising and later became the owner and operator of several motels. Mr. Bird was a High Priest in the LDS church and has served as Sunday School superintendent. sup-erintendent. Bird, Lander, Wyoming; Morris H. Bird, San Jose, California; Allan H. Bird, Smyrna, Ga.; Roy H. Bird, SpringviUe; Mrs. J. O. (Virgin-in) (Virgin-in) Whiting, Glendale, California; Califor-nia; Mrs. Gordon H. (Norma) Allen, Salt Lake City; 22 grandchildren; eight great grandchildren, a sister and a brother, Bella B. Bringhurst and William Bird, SpringviUe. Mrs. Malon (Aleta) Kiggins, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Leon-ard Zobell, left recently for Frankfort, Germany, to be with her husband, SSGT Malon Kiggins. She was accompanied by her three daughters, Debra, Marcia and Corrie. They will be in Germany for several years. |
