Show Two suspects were captured early Sunday morning by law enforcement officers in connection connec-tion with the burglaries of three Springville businesses, and are awaiting preliminary hearing set April 17. Thomas Franklin Wright, 24 of Meadow, and Jarrell Theobald, Theo-bald, 26 of Hinckley, were charged with second degree burglary in complaints filed with the Provo City Court. The two are being held at Utah County Jail. Business places burglarized during the night included A and W Root Beer, operated by Stanley Whaley, 501 No. Main; The Hut, operated by Mr. and Mrs. E. L. Gear, 85 So. Main; and Springville Garage, operated oper-ated by Shirley Thorpe, 255 S. Main. Patrolman DeVere Kelsey of the Springville Police said he began a routine check of doors in the downtown area around 2 a.m. He was driving north on Main Street when he glanced glan-ced back over his shoulder and saw a man running from the Springville Garage. Officer Kelsey called for help on his police radio, then chased the man through an alley back of the buildings. A short time later he apprehended one of the suspects and a few minutes after that the second was apprehended ap-prehended by Assistant Sgt. Bill Brown and Animal Control Officer Vuell Bowen of the Provo Police Department, who had heard Officer Kelsey's call for help and responded. Chief Ashley Graham praised the cooperation other law enforcement en-forcement agencies gave his department. Also responding to Officer Kelsey's call for assistance assis-tance were State Troopers Bob Greenhalgh and Willis Vincent, and Deputy Sheriff By Montague. Mon-tague. Chief Graham said entry to all three buildings was gained by breaking out windows. A small amount of change plus buns, wieners, and other food was reported missing from A&W Root Beer. A small amount of change was also taken from The Hut and from Springville Garage. |
