Show Ififjapieton FJewd Mr. and Mrs. Emanuel Di-Giacomo Di-Giacomo have returned home after attending the wedding of their son. Dr. Ronald DiGia-como DiGia-como to Maurine Smith, daughter daugh-ter of Dr. and Mrs. Thomas Smith of Avon Lake, Ohio. The ceremony was performed by Rev. Frank Smith, uncle of the bride, at St. James Catholic Church at Avon Lake. Following Follow-ing the wedding, a reception was held at the country club. After spending a few days in Chicago with their son, the DiGiacomos traveled to Ellets-ville, Ellets-ville, Indiana, where they visited vis-ited with their daughter, Mrs. Jackie Helsel and her husband. Mrs. Helsel was a bridesmaid at her brother's wedding. They then went to Windber, Pennsylvania to spend a few mother, sister and other relatives, rela-tives, who had attended the wedding also. At Massapequa, New York, they visited with Mr. and Mrs. Frank Yama, brother of Mrs. DiGiacomo. On their trip home they enjoyed en-joyed the beauty of Berthoud Pass in Colorado. They were gone two weeks. Mrs. Carolyn Fiedorowicz and baby son of Marinette, Wisconsin are arriving this week for a two weeks visit with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Everett. Mrs. Lillian Hales and daughter daugh-ter Helen Pearson of Magna spent the afternoon of Memorial Memor-ial Day with her niece and husband, hus-band, Mr. and Mrs. Boyd Johnson. John-son. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Gividen and family have left for a visit vis-it with her parents, Mr .and Mrs. uryer ot Juna, Texas. Louie Charlie the Indian boy who has made his home with them during the school months for many years, will accompany accom-pany them to Texas and will stay at his home in New Mexico Mex-ico on the way back. Appointed Dr. Lane A. Compton, professor pro-fessor of physical education at Brigham Young University, has been appointed acting director of research at BYU, replacing Dr. H. Tracy Hall, it was announced an-nounced today by President Ernest Er-nest L. Wilkinson. The change will become effective ef-fective June 1. Dr. Hall, who was the frist man ever to produce pro-duce synthetic diamonds and who has held the position for 12 years, will return to teaching teach-ing chemistry and research in high pressure high temperature experiments. The position involves the approval ap-proval of research proposals, channeling of funds, checking progress, and gathering reports on hundreds of faculty research projects each year in all fields of study. Dr. Compton, who holds the B.S., M.S. and Ed. D. degrees from the University of Utah, joined the BYU faculty in 1953. He formerly served for six years as chairman of the Advisory Ad-visory Committee on Chemistry and Physics to the Utah State Superintendent of Public Instruction In-struction and director of numerous num-erous summer institutes for science teachers and students. |
