Bjarnson, who were married 50 years ago on January 2. Mr. and Mrs. Ray Bjarnson note 50th anniversary of marriage Mr. and Mrs. Ray I. Bjarnson, Bjarn-son, 669 East 10th South, will observe the 50th anniversary of their marriage today, January Janu-ary 2. No special celebration is planned for the occasion. Mrs. Flora Bjarnson was born at Schofield and lived there until she was five years old, when her father lost his life in the mine explosion. Her mother remarried and the family fam-ily moved to Mapleton, where she attended school. Mr. 3jarnson, a son of Thor-in Thor-in and Ingavolda Bjarnson, was born Dec. 1 1888 in Spanish Fork. The family moved to Castlegate when he was a young boy and at 16 years of age, he began working in the Carbon Co. mine. One of his brothers with whom he was working lost his life in the mine and another brother was killed in the Schofield explosion. explo-sion. He met his future wife at Mapleton and they traveled by horse and buggy to Provo for the marriage ceremony, which was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. Mr. Bjarnson worked for various construction companies compan-ies and also on construction of the Strawberry tunnel for a few years . They are the parents of seven sev-en sons and daughters, six of them are living: Ray H. Bjarnson, Spring Glen, Utah; Glenn H. Bjarnson, Salt Lake City; R. Lynn Bjarnson, Mapleton; Map-leton; Mrs. Glenn Kirkwood (Rosalie), Leon G. Bjarnson and Mrs. Ted Simpson (Joyce) all of Springville; also 21 grandchildren and one greatgrandchild. |
