Show Garden Park wins National Little League championship going the distance for the winners. Kyle Thompson, Thomp-son, Kyle Hinton and Ryan Brown hammered out doubles. Brandon Peterson threw for Tink's, with Rand Bet-tridge, Bet-tridge, Jason Komerak and Mark Messer nabbing nab-bing two-baggers. Farm Bureau's 10-8 victory over Arctic Circle came with David Wilcox going the distance and Dave Campos doubling. For Arctic Circle it was Valerie and 'Rulon Pete taking turns on the mound and Rulon Pete knocking out two doubles. It was a close one for Arctic Circle players as they overcame Elks 6-5. Derk Evans was the winning pitcher, and Mark Hancey doubled. Jason Mitchell and Cody Bulloch threw for Elks, and Peter Marlin doubled. Ron's and Century 21 called it quits after six innings of play with the game tied 6-6. Brad Watson and Ryan Whittekiend threw for Ron's and Justin Beatty and Mark Stein did the job for Century 21. Brad Waldorf doubled for Century, and Mike Miller and Watson nabbed two-baggers two-baggers for Ron's. Farm Bureau's big win came at the expense of Town & Country 17-6. Shane Adair was the winning pitcher and he was backed up by David Wilcox who slammed three doubles and Travis Nicholes who got one. Extra base hitters for Town & Country were Darren Marchant, Bruce Anderson and Carlyle Smith, with two-baggers. CEDAR CITY Garden Park won the National League Championship with a record of 15-3. Contributing to the championship title were two difficult victories last week. They squeaked by Ron's 2-1 and shut out Tink's 2-0. Against Ron's, Garden Park came from behind to score two in the sixth inning. Kirk Marchant went the distance on the mound, and Mike Blackburn Black-burn doubled. Ron's only score came in the fourth inning on a single by Jones. Ken Gilbert doubled, and Scot Jones was the pitcher. Kim Blackner pitched the shut out against Tink's. Blackburn walked and scored in the first inning, and Steve Leydsman scored on a hit pitch in the fourth. Kregg Lunt threw for Tink's and doubled. It was Elks, 9, and Century 21, 5, with Scott Davis of Elks getting a double for the only extra base hit in the game. Lion's overcame Tink's 4-3, with Jason Mercer |
