Show Paragonah power station still idle The plant is owned, maintained and operated by Parowan City, which Paragonah buys its power from. Parowan officials have estimated the damage at somewhere between 35 and 40 thousand dollars. They do not yet know when the generator will be replaced. PARAGONAH After a week out of operation the Paragonah power station is still sitting idle after a flash flood caused the generator to burn out July 9. The incident occured after heavy rains caused a flash flood to come roaring down the Paragonah Canyon, turning the water wheel much faster than usual. At that time the generator governor also malfunctioned, causing the generator to burn out. "It just completely burned it to pieces," said Parowan Police Chief Wayne Townsend, who helped investigate in-vestigate the incident. |
