Show ANDERSON CAMP of the D U P held their regular month lv meeting Monday, Sept. 9, at the home of Mary Tattersall. Cap1. Phyllis Warr was in i charge. Roll call found 10 members present. Two short pioneer histories his-tories of 1857 were read bv Alpha Staples-. County President Presi-dent Luc Osborne reported on the D U P convention held in St. George, attended bv 78 members mem-bers from Beaver County. Alpha Stapley presented a beautiful gift to the- hostess Mrs. Tattersall. In order tnat the general public may learn of the activities and accomplish- ments of the D U P, Anderson Camp will present 'five copies of "Heart Throbs" to the Beaver Public Library. New officers, elected to serve for the coming ear, are Kathleen Kath-leen Farnsworth, captain; Erraa Smith, 'first vice captain; Lottie Farrer, second vice captain; Lucy Osborne, secretary; Alpha Stapley, chaplain; Kate Jensen, recorder; Ida Tattersall, registrar; regis-trar; Alta Hickman, chorister; - i Mary F. Goodwin, reporter. ' Delicious lemon pie and hot j chocolate were served. BEAVER I PERSONAL Mrs. LaVel Bradshaw visited Wednesday of last week with her mother, Mrs. J. P. Christen-son, Christen-son, and sister Lois, in Elsinore. Lois left Friday to teach school in Portland, Ore. Mrs. Bradshaw Brad-shaw was accompanied home bv her daughter Rachel, who had been visiting relatives in Elsinore. Mr. and Mrs. Press Whorn-Tiam Whorn-Tiam were in Salt Lake Sunday and Monday with their daughters, daugh-ters, Patricia and Jeanne. They took their grandson Jeffrey, who had visited them during August, back to the Capitol Cltv- Mrs. John Gunn was in Mil- ford Friday, accompanied by her brother George and sister, Mrs. Ethel Aopleton. Mr. and Mrs. Bard Blackhain and son Doug were St. George visitors Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Rex Gardner of Afton, Wyo., spent the last few -dsvs of their honeymoon at the home of an aunt, Mrs. Eva Powell. j Mr. and Mrs. Merrill Jameson Jame-son of Minersville were Sunday visitors at the home of their son in law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Rex Limb. 9 George Goodwin of Milford visited Sunday with the Second Ward bishopric and his mother, Mrs. Mary Goodwin. Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Gillies and son Abe attended the Stock-Show Stock-Show at Cedar Citv Thursday. Baker, at Minersville. Mrs. Myrtle Ashworth returned re-turned home last week after enjoying en-joying a vacation trip to the Northwest with her son and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Delbut Pedderson, and son. Mrs. Mary Goodwin received word Tuesday that her sister, Mrs. LaVern Patterson, was recuperating alter undergoing an operation. SEPTEMBER 20 has been Set as the date for the marriage of Miss Reva DeVora Parkinson and Mr. Kenneth Dale Gates, according to the announcement j by the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Delmar Parkinson. Parents of the prospective bridegroom is Mrs. Hilda Gates of Kearns. They will be married in the Salt Lake Temple, with a reception recep-tion in the Beaver First-Third Ward Relief Society Room on Saturday, Sept. 21. Reva is a graduate of Beaver Beav-er High School, and attended the L D S Business College in Salt Lake. At present she is employed at the American Service Serv-ice Bureau in Salt Lake. Dale is a native of Salina, and is employed by Kennecott Copper Co. THE CANASTA CLUB held a party Thursday evening at Ponderosa Park, with seven members present to enjoy the delicious supper. Attending were Mrs. Marlys Bonn, Mrs. Beverly Farrer, Mrs Lucille Strong, Mrs. Alta Paice Mrs. Betty Smth., Mrs. Coller Boyter, and Mrs. Peggy Stapley Louis Schwab of Las Vegas spent the week end in Beaver with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Otto L. Schwab. Miss Martha Louise Hurst of Salt Lake spent last week end at the home of her brother in law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. .Press Whornham. Week end visitors at the home of Mrs. Hattie Goodwin were Mr. and Mrs. Knewell Iverson and children and Mr. and Mrs. Harold Goodwin and children of Delta. They returned home Monday accompanied by Mrs. Goodwin, who will spend some time caring for the children while Mrs. Iverson cooks at the Delta High School. Miss Phyllis Baker spent Friday Fri-day of last week visiting her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Baker, at St. George. Mrs. Mary F. Goodwin was happily surprised Saturday by a visit from her son, Ray W. Goodwin of Pioche, who was returning from New Mexico where Miners of Pioche were transferred after the mines closed. Mr. and Mrs. LeRoy Goodwin of McGill, Nev., spent several davs in Beaver with LeRoy's mother, Mrs. Hattie Goodwin and is now at the home of Mrs Goodwin's mother, Mrs Mar |
