Show Merchants Take Title In Beaver Little League The Beaver Merchants, managed man-aged and coached by Garth Penney and Dick Oakden, continued con-tinued their winning ways to finish the league play with an .858 average and championship of the Beaver Little League in the first year of play. They defeated de-feated Arden Dairy, 7-6, in extra ex-tra innings Friday in this year's final game. Tuesday the Merchants handed hand-ed Utoco Oil a solid 14-2 thumping, thump-ing, and Arden Dairy trounced Milne Truck, 9-3. In the other Friday game Milne Truck up-Bet up-Bet Utoco, 18-9. Thursday afternoon the Little Lit-tle Leaguers and their sponsors, managers and coaches celebrated celebrat-ed with a party at Ponderosa Park, and awards were presented present-ed to: HAL MURDOCK, outstanding player; RICHARD SWINDLEHURST, outstanding pitcher; ELLIS TAYLOR, highest, batting bat-ting average.
