Show -4 But 9 Jteal& There'll be sap on the seats at the Milford football game Friday night, and we ain't talking talk-ing about the cash customers. Seems the new bleachers installed in-stalled under Jascee sponsorship sponsor-ship exude a little gum, pine, or fir sap (whatever they're made of) and Coach Pettey cautions sitters in the seats to bring along a blanket, canvass, or old cushion to sit on, so the sap won't get on their trousers and ' dresses. It won't last long, though. One section of the bleachers was used at the Little League park th's summer, and after a day or two the sap quit exuding and no one got their dresses and trousers messed up. So for the first game or two take along a blanket or cushion. cush-ion. Anyway, football time is blanket weather. After the season gets going you'll need the blanket 'for warmth. Seems TV in Beaver Counts isn't settled yet. In Beaver, thes- have a swell signal on all channels, with Channel 5 occasionally kicking over the traces. Minersville depends on a good relay from Beaver (and so does Cedar City). In Milford, they have the cable system, which almost from the start has been unsatisfactory, unsat-isfactory, according to many cable system subscribers, and a "public TV" group which has been endeavoring to deliver a good picture to the community. They've had a good picture several sev-eral times, they've been sabotaged sabo-taged on occasion, and at present pres-ent they're perfecting an installation instal-lation on the Pole Line Pass road which they believe will soon afford good signals on all three channels. The Channel 5 picture now is better than passable, pass-able, and thev plan a power line installation when they receive recommendations from an engineering engi-neering 'firm. The Beaver TV solicitation committee, headed by Arlo Mes-singer, Mes-singer, reported Tuesday collections collec-tions of $2500 from Beaver TV - enthusiasts, which will be used to finance start of the TV power line. The money has been remitted re-mitted to Telluride Power Co., and construction is beginning on the six-mile line from Mander-field Mander-field to TV Hill north of town. Personally, we have enjosed TV for several months, and we believe that all the residents of the counts- should have good TV made available to them, either by public subscription to fi- nance the installation, or thru financing by use of tax money. Private enterprise has proved, at least to our way of thinking, that they either can't or won't do the job. |
