' ( J ' N - i Vena Wilson Mrs. Vena Wilson Observes Anniversary Mrs. Vena Wilson, long-time resident of Milford, observed her 82nd birth anniversary Saturday, Sat-urday, Sept. 7. Her Bible class of the Methodist Sunday School, and many close friends, called during the afternoon to congratulate congrat-ulate her and offer good wishes. Mrs. Wilson has had a varied and interesting career. She was born in Ogdensburg, N. Y., on the St. Lawrence River, and has lived in Iosva, Texas, Washington, Washing-ton, California and Utah. She has buou successively (and :;.: a teacher, a houb.e maid, a saieslads", a homesteader, home-steader, and a bookkeeper. For 25 scars she was office manager in the Milford office of Telluride Tellu-ride Power Co. Mrs. Wilson learned the Three Rs in a one-room schoolhouse on the Iowa prairie. She is a graduate of the Iowa State Teachers College, was a student at the University of Iowa and the University- of Chicago, was a teacher in the midwest, but did not receive a high school diploma until after retiring as office manager for Telluride Power Co. she enrolled at Milford Mil-ford High School and earned the fraction of a credit in English Eng-lish which she lacked. During the 25 years she was employed at Telluride, Mrs. Wilson assisted many Milford High School students with their .homework in English, Math, and i the Sciences. As Vena Hawley she was mar-i mar-i ried to William John Wilson in ' 1916, in the Methodist Parsonage Parson-age at Milford. Their married life was brief, as Mr. Wilson died in 1922. - Having no "home life," she has been interested in all the civic and community betterment program of the town, and is at present an ardent supporter of the Little League baseball bos s. Mrs. Wilson is fraternally-minded. fraternally-minded. For many- years she has been active in the work of the Eastern Star, the Rebekahs, and the Business and Professional Profes-sional Women's Club. She is also a communicant of the Milford Mil-ford Methodist Church. Being retired from active duts' she and her sister, Phronia Hawley, enjoy a pleasant life together, and old and young are welcome and frequent visitors at the Hawley-Wilson Home. |
