Labuan, Island of Labuan, British llornco, Jan. 24. The steamer Labuan, which has returned from the island of Palawan, in the southwestern portion of the Philippine archipelago, reports that the Spanish governor of the island and a number of Spanish officers were murdered by the natives while issuing from church. The natives then retired to the hills, taking the women and children and some men as prisoners. A Spanish gunboat and a mail boat called and left again. Captain Ffortof the steamer Labuan interviewed the natives and brought away the governor's gover-nor's wife, the ether women and children, child-ren, a priest and twelve soldiers. |
