OCR Text	Show MATAAFA WAS ELECTED. But Chief Jtistlco Declared In Favor of MalietuaTunu. Hamburg, Jan. 22. According to news received here from Samoa, Chief Justice Chambers on December 31, annuled the election of Mataafa who was returned by a sextuple majority and declared Malietoa Tauu, the son of the late King Malietoa, who is still a minor, to be king. The three councils coun-cils recognized Mataafa's people as provisional government. Maletoa Tanu Tamasese, another claimant for the throne, and Chief Justice Chambers, it is added went on board a British warship, war-ship, whereupon the provisional government gov-ernment closed the chief court. The The British warship then landed a detachment de-tachment of bluejackets and later the court was re-opened under the protests pro-tests of the provisional government.
