Show August Honor Roll of Navy Lists 5 Southern I'tah Boys Boys who enlist in the Navy don't have to wait for weeks of training train-ing to be recognized. Their names are entered on the Honor Roll right from the day of their enlistment, en-listment, under the caption "These Men Preferred to Volunteer for Services in the Navy. After Investigation In-vestigation of the Opportunities Offered". A copy of "Nautical Notes", issued is-sued recently by J. M. Birkett, recruiting officer from the U. S. Navy Recruiting substation at Cedar City, reports eleven enlistments enlist-ments in the Naval Reserve through Aug. 15 to 31. Of the eleven, eight are from Utah, one from Wisconsin and two from Texas. And of the eight from Utah, five are from southern Utah and include locally-known young men. These are: Newell R. Hartley, Hart-ley, IS, son of Mrs. Alvaivtta Stratton, Hurricane: Neu Merton Mitchell. 21, son of Mr. and Mrs. W. S. Mitchell; and John Quentin Page, 20, son of Mr. and Mrs. John G. Page, both of Parowan; James M. Judd. 21. son of Mr. and Mrs. James Judd, St. George; and Melvin Lister Armstrong. 20, son of Mr. and Mrs. John M. Armstrong, of Cedar City. |
