Show Various Demonstrations Showing Work of CCC To Be Presented CCC Company 959 at Veyo is preparing pre-paring to observe the ninth anniversary anni-versary of the Civilian Conservations Conserva-tions corps on Saturday, Mar. 29. The camp will be open during the afternoon to visitors who will be shown all of the camp facilities. Various demonstrations are planned plan-ned to show what is being accomplished accom-plished by the CCC training program. pro-gram. Company 959 is made up entirely of Utah youths and is one of three Utah companies in the district. Insofar as the accessibility acces-sibility of the projects and the weather permitting, visitors will be taken on field trips to inspect the work projects of the camp. The company has taken over Cot-tam's Cot-tam's Warm Springs at Veyo for the afternoon and evening. During Dur-ing the afternoon, the boys and their friends will have a swimming swim-ming party. In the evening, they will stage a free dacne and serve refreshments. The public is invited. in-vited. Forest service officials point out that during the period since the camp was re-established at Veyo, October 1, 1940, 14 miles of high standard fence have been erected for the purpose of more efficient range management; 6 stock water troughs and 10 stock watering ponds have been constructed at various locations on the Dixie forest for-est range; 200 acres of depleted range land have been reseeded. Many cattle guards have been built at the intersections of roads and fences. The Central-Pine Valley Val-ley road project is nearing completion comple-tion and will facilitate the use and enjoyment, particularly by Washington Wash-ington county residents, of the beautiful Pine Valley district as a recreational area. It is expected in the near future to construct a road into the Lions club lodge from the Pine Valley camp ground. This project will also include a water system for the lodge and other uses on that portion of the recreational area. Some other work accomplished during the past winter include the construction of 250 road and trail signs and 12 fire tool boxes to preserve forest fire fighting tools. |
