Show Henry Hirschi Instantly Killed In Car Accident Near Rockville ROCKVILLE, Utah. Henry Hirschi, Hir-schi, 76, of this community met instant death Sunday, Jan. 9, at 3:15 p.m., when the 1935 Ford pick-up in which he was riding with his son, Howard Hirschi, went out of control and crashed into the cement bridge at Huber Wash, below the town of Rockville. Rock-ville. Arrive At Accident Scene Mr. and Mrs. Fred Fagergren of Zion Park arrived at the scene just as the Hirschi car came to a stop and took the two men to Rockville. Antone B. Prince, county sheriff was called and the investigation revealed that the radius rod of the steering equipment equip-ment had come loose, throwing the car out of control and resulting re-sulting in the crash which caused the instant death of the elder Mr. Hirschi, his son being severely but not seriously injured. Henry Hirschi was born June 28, 1867 in Rockville, a son of Gottlieb and Mary Ann Rupp Hirschi, early L. D. S. converts from Switzerland. He was married mar-ried in 1890 to Mary C. Stout and they have continued to make their home in Rockville, where he has been active as a stockman stock-man and farmer. He is also well known for his fine horses and for his interest in horse racing in this area. Surviving Mr. Hirschi are his wife and eight of their ten children, child-ren, including six sons, Leo, George, Howard and Warren Hirschi Hir-schi of Rockville; Riley Hirschi of St. George and Glenn Hirschi of Cedar City; and two daughters, Mrs. Ruby Averett of Boulder City and Mrs. Iva Snow of Map-Ieton, Map-Ieton, Utah. There are also 22 grandchildren and two greatgrandchildren. great-grandchildren. Services In Rockville Chapel Funeral services were held in the Rockville ward chapel Tuesday, Tues-day, Jan. 11, at 2 p. m., with Bishop Waldon Ballard conducting the program. Music numbers included a vocal duet by Arvena DeMille and Marie Broderick, accompanied by Lena Wilcox; two numbers, "My Father Knows", and "I'll Go Where You Want Me To Go", by the Springdale male quartet, including in-cluding Von Hoyt, Kay, Larkin and Avard Gifford, with Mrs. Von Hoyt accompanying; and a duet, "Whispering Hope", Mrs. Marvin Terry and Mrs. DeMille. Speakers were John R. Crawford Craw-ford of Springdale, D. Marvin Terry of Rockville and Bishop Ballard, all of whom have had long acquaintance with the deceased de-ceased and told of his many contributions con-tributions to his community and of his work as a farmer and stockman. Prayers were Henry Gubler of LaVerkin and Samuel Crawford of R.ockville. Burial was in Rockville Rock-ville cemetery. |
