Show Cedar To Play Dixie Here Friday Night Hurricane Opens Season At Enterprise; Wolves Lose Openers One of the "three big games" of the local basketball season is the schedule when Cedar high comes down Friday night to play the Dixie Flyers. The game will start at 8 o'clock. Cedar City has had a very successful suc-cessful pre-season in the' casaba sport, and fans from the north say this is the Redmen's year. Local fans who have seen the I Cedarites in action say Dixie will be lucky to get by this one. On the other hand, this will be the ' first league game for Cedar City, and since the tussel is on the local floor there is a good chance for Dixie to upset the Redmen. Coach Lee Hafen thinks it can ' be done. At any rate, this promises prom-ises to be one of the best games of the year. Dixie downed an ill-prepared Parowan squad last Friday night 40-12, with all the local squad seeing action. Though the score was one-sided, the game was never dull. Parowan has a good team that kept the Flyers on their toes all the time. The Rams were handicapped, however, since their coach had been ill for three weeks and had not been able to get his : team into shape. The visitors made the first score and held the locals in check . during most of the first quarter, j but Dixie's speed soon put them in front. Coach Hafen has plenty of rough spots to iron out before his team can be considered championship cham-pionship caliber, but he is rapidly rap-idly working the boys into shape. He has some good talent, and the boys have speed to burn. A strong Kanab team downed a visiting Enterprise team 48-34 1 last Friday. Enterprise went on to Orderville Saturday to lose again 29-23. Kanab goes to Parowan and Hurricane opens the season at Enterprise. Saturday Kanab plays . at Cedar and Parowan at Hurricane. Hurri-cane. Dixie plays Orderville and Kanab next week end. j Efforts are being made by ; Recrion 6 officials to shorten the league schedule so that play-offs I may be completed in time to got : the winners in good shape for the state tournament. |
