Show Dixie College News For a second time, Sunday, the college was unable to present the oratorio, "The Messiah", on the Temple grounds, because of the weather. The oratorio may be given later, announces J. W. McAllister, Mc-Allister, the director. D.J.C. A large crowd attended the Junior Prom last Friday night. All who attended pronounced the dance a social success. Elna Gardiner was the Prom chairman, with the entire class working to prepare for the affair. D. J. C Walter Snow, editor of the yearbook, was in Salt Lake City during the week, completing plans for the publication of the annual. D.J.C. The Bond Scholarship committee commit-tee announces the postponement of the boxing card until Tuesday, May 2nd. It was orginally scheduled sched-uled for April 26th, but there is a conflicting program on that evening. eve-ning. The committee is at present preparing for the sale of dishes donated toy the O. K. Market. D.J.C. Dr. Ross Hardy announces two recent contributions to the biology department of the college. Dr. Walter P. Cottam, of the University Uni-versity of Utah, has given 30 new plant specimens; and A. O. Garrett, Utah biological authority and writer, has presented two of his books, "Rusts of Utah", and "Smuts of Utah". Dr. Cottam also returned to the department some rare specimens collected locally. They had been borrowed by the University of Utah for study, since they were the only specimens speci-mens of their kind in Utah. D. J. C. The Dixie college faculty entertained enter-tained the senior class as a hamburger ham-burger fry Monday night on the Red Hill. After supper the group participated in a "Truth or Consequences", Con-sequences", program and in community com-munity singing. Miss Myrtle Henderson Hen-derson was chairman of the committee com-mittee in charge. She was assisted as-sisted by Pres. Glenn E. Snow, M. M. Bentley, Maurice Miles and John T. Woodbury. D. J. C. Pres. Glenn E. Snow wishes to remind the public of the summer sum-mer courses that are contemplated contem-plated at the college. All kinds of vocational trade courses will be given if there is demand. Those interested should make their applications now. D. J. C. Prospects for next year at the college are brighter than a year ago, according to Pres. Glenn E. Snow. Already applications for scholarships are being received from a wide area. D. J. C. Pres. Glenn E. Snow has been invited to give the commencement commence-ment address at Panguitch on May 10th and at Alamo on May 12th. |
