Show Dixie College News New OPT Quota Sixty CPT students completed their ground work last week and are expected to complete their flight training within the next week. Ventura and Dixie quotas are included in those completing their training. The new courses will get underway under-way next week, with 45 new students stu-dents from Ventura and 20 from Dixie in the primary and secondary sec-ondary programs. D. J. C. State Board To Meet Here The Utah State Board of Education Edu-cation is scheduled to hold its next regular meeting at St. George. The group will inspect the Dixie college while here. The meeting will be held on Saturday, Oct. 3. Regular school will be held on that date. D. J. C. To Visit College Dixie college will be visited on Sept. 25th by the joint Army-Navy-Coast Guard procurement committee. The program of the various military organizations will be presented at that time. The committee will return on Oct. 13 for enlistment work. D. J. C. Football Suits Issued Football suits were issued to college and high school candidates Tuesday, and the initial practice was held. Eighteen college boys were present for the first drill, with more enrollees expected soon. This enrolment exceeds all expectations. Nearly thirty high school lads turned out for the six-man sport. D. J. C. Speech Choir Course Given A course in speech choir is being be-ing given on Tuesday and Thursday Thurs-day evenings at 6:15. Townspeople Towns-people interested are invited to attend. They may take the work with or without credit. Those desiring speech choir work without the embarrassment of individual recitation will find speech choir just what they want, according to Miss Myrtle Henderson" Hend-erson" who is conducting the class. Literary selections are studied and interpreted by the group, with different types of voices giving giv-ing the special effects, Miss Henderson Hend-erson states. D. J. C. Physical education is being required re-quired of all students this year. This is done at Government re- quest to keep everybody in the best of physical condition. - D. J. C. The college faculty enjoyed its first social of the year Wednesday Wednes-day night. The program included a swim at the municipal pool and a supper on the Sugar Loaf. |
