Katharine Larson Reporter Reading from the ''Heroines of Mormondom", Mrs. Xettie Spend-love Spend-love gave pleasure and information to the Jolly Stitchers club that had met at her home on Thursday. Teb. 3. for their regular afternoon of quilting and visiting. Members of the Alice Louise Reynolds club gathered Friday. Teb. 4, at the home of Mrs. Martha Inglestead, where she was assisted as hostess by Mrs. La Verna Graff. Nineteen women listened with interest to the reports re-ports on Kathleen Xorris and Pearl S. Buck, given by Mrs. Maurine Wilson and Mrs. Mary Kleinm'ann respectively. Mrs. Kleinman also reviewed the "Exile" by Mrs. Buck. "Pepita" a historical novel by V. Sackville West was reviewed on Thursday afternoon to the Ladies Literary' club at the home of Mrs. Annie Hirschi. who was assisted m entertaining by Mrs. Eva C. Webb. Mrs. Emma Bradshaw also gave tvo personality sketches. Lunch was served to twelve members. Mrs. Rulon Black and baby son, of Ogden are here for a week's visit with her father, John A. Humphries and family. The South Ward Primary Officers Of-ficers were the guests of Mis. Owen Burgener on Monday afternoon after-noon at her home where delicious refreshments were served to them. Mrs. Vinona Esplin gave the lesson les-son from the "Children's Friend." Mr. and Mrs. Anthony Pendleton Pendle-ton and Miss Linda Larson of St. George were Sunday visitors at the home of their brother. A. K. larson. The life of David Hirschi was given on Wednesday afternoon by Mrs. Amelia Beaton before the South Ward D.U.P. at their meeting meet-ing held in the home of Mrs. Susie Stanworth, captain of the South Ward camp. Light refreshments refresh-ments were served to the fifteen daughters present. Mr. and Mrs. David Hirschi and their son, Claudius returned an AVednesday from their trip to Minnesota. Miss Uarda Knight, county school nurse, is confined to her bed with "illness. Mr. and Mrs. William Atkin Sr., Mrs. Hazel Lake and her son, W'ilford Lake, of Los Angeles, were guests on Sunday at the home of City Marshall, and Mrs. John Atkin. High School Play 'The Last of the Ruthbens", a mystery drama in three acts was presented to a capacity house Wednesday night, Feb. 2. by the Senior students at the Hurricane high school under the direction of Wayne Hinton, senior class sponsor. spon-sor. The student dramatists pro-trayed pro-trayed an enthralling mystery which centered around the decay of an old English family. Lord Allen Rutheben, who in the first two acts appears the perfect hero ready to exchange his titled name for Vicie Van Dine's millions proves in the denoument to be the villian of mytsery because of inherent in-herent insanity. Maurice Dalton of Rockville played this difficult role with convincing precision. Vici Van Dine was ably done by Donna Wilson. Other prominent roles were taken by Florence Imlay, Norene S'ratton, Wanda Webb, Carma Hirschi, Du Rell Covington, Robert Ro-bert Judd, Le Lanse Squire and Bill Smith. |
