Show Many High Schools To Attend Music Festival First Time Festival lias Been Held In Other School Than B.A.C. At Cedar City St. George, for the first time in its history, will act as host to all regional high schools at what is definitely the outstanding musical musi-cal event of the year for this area. Approximately one thousand high school students are expected to attend from Southern Utah and Nevada high schools. This unique festival has been sponsored in the past by the Branch Agricultural college, but this year the Dixie junior college will provide the facilities for the meet. Many High Schools to Participate It is estimated that thirteen high schools will participate in this carnival, in some form, with the possibility of nine bands entering enter-ing the parade to climax the day's (Continued on page five) Music Festival (Continued from first page) activities. The following Utah schools have indicated their desire to participate: Milford, Beaver, Parowan, B.A.C., Kanab, Orderville, Order-ville, Hurricane, Enterprise, Dixie junior high, and the Dixie junior college. Invitations will be sent to Bunkerville, Panaca and Overton Over-ton high schools, of Nevada. The activities of the day ate outlined by the state committee and include all kinds of sole and group numbers. All Civic Organizations Assist Supt. Milton E. Moodv. who has been largely responsible for bringing bring-ing the festival to St George, heads a central committee which is in charge of the general program. pro-gram. The other members of the committee are as follows' E. J. Bleak, R. M Reber, Ann P. Robinson, Robin-son, Matthew M. Bentley and Newell R. Frei. Each of the central cen-tral committee members in turn, heads a sub-committee. It will be the duty of the sub-committee to care for the details of the festival. The sub-committees, as outlined at a general meeting of representatives representa-tives of the various civic organizations, organiza-tions, held at Superintendent Moody's office last Friday are: Program committee, E. J. Bleak, chairman; finance committee, R. M. Reber, chairman; lunch committee, com-mittee, Ann P. Robinson, chairman; chair-man; arrangement committee, Matthew M. Bentley, chairman; invitation, reception and publicity, Newell R. Frei, chairman. The membership -6f ' reaeh'sub-ebrn-mittee will include representatives of all the civic organizations. It is hoped by the central committee that the people of St. George will rally, with their customary enthusiasm, en-thusiasm, to make this festival a landmark in the cultural progress of the county. Finance, Big Job "The finance committee, headed by R. M. Reber, youthful and energetic young business man, who has a faculty for putting things over, will have plenty of work to do. It will take several hundred dollars to finance this meet and the cooperation of all the agencies in the city will be needed", declares de-clares Mr. Frei. |
