Show Win From Cedar In Hectic Battle Saturday By pouring on the heat when they needed it, Dixie managed to beat the B.A.C. high team in their regular league game played here on last Saturday night. Final score gave the Fliers 44 to 34, but the Cedar team had them worried wor-ried during the third quarter when it looked like a rally might win for the Aggie squad. Dixie plainly showed the effects of their hard game the night before be-fore with Hurricane which they won by nosing out the Tigers by one point in a 30-29 game. What most fans thought would be a walk-away for the Fliers, turned into a hard fought game until the last few minutes of the game when Dixie had forged into a 10 point lead over the Cedar squad, (Continued on page five) Dixie-Cedar Game (Continued from first page) that they were able to hold until the gun. Cox, right guard for Dixie, came through with some timely shots right when the Fliers needed them most to start them on their way to their 10 point victory. At the time that Cox found the basket for three shots, the Cedar team looked like they might continue a scoring streak and win the game. Esplin, right forward, was high man .getting IS markers; Blake, center, was next with 10. A. Leigh, center, was high man for B.A.C. with 14. he was followed by Hatch, left guard, with 8 points. Dixie managed to cash in on 2 out of 7 free throws while Cedar scored 6 out of 13. This lack of a scoring punch at the foul line may be a bad handicap for the Fliers if they are able to win the division championship and go to the tournament. tour-nament. Hurricane could have won their game with Dixe without much trouble had they made even fifty per cent of their free trys. |
