Show St. George CCC Camp The camp-baseball team of Co. 2558, consisting of fifteen members mem-bers made a week-end trip to Es-calante, Es-calante, Utah, where that company, com-pany, 4778, was host to the visitors visit-ors from St. George. The athletes from 2558 accompanied by P. J. Schiele, Lester Parker, division of grazing foreman and K. G. Anderson, An-derson, educational adviser, stopped stop-ped enroute to Escalante and visited visit-ed Bryce Canyon. Mr. Parker and Mr. Anderson were accompanied by their wives. A dance was held Saturday evening in honor of the visiting team. Sunday morning at 9:30 the game was played on the camp diamond. dia-mond. In the early part of the game Co. 4778, captured the lead and held the score 4 to 1 until the first half of the ninth inning when Co. 2558 tied the score at 5 to 5. At this point of the game Escalante changed pitchers. It was only after playing four extra innings that Co. 4778 managed to score two runs while Co. 2558 scored one. The game, one of the best played and most interesting ever to be palyed by either team, ended 7 to 6 in favor of Co. 4778. Following the game a delicious chicken dinner was served to the members of Company 4778 and its j guests. i Company 4778 will in all prob- I ability play a return engagement j with St. George in the near future 1 at St. George. I Trips of this kind have a defin- ; ite value in building up mutual respect and good fellowship among the camps sensing this situation no small amount of credit and appreciation ap-preciation is due Captain Fred Klenk, commanding officer of Co. 2558, for arranging such a worthwhile worth-while trip for his men. Barracks No. 1 won the honor flag the most times during the month of May for having the neatest neat-est barracks during the month. Members of the barracks will be given some kind of merit trip for their good work. |
