Show Small Number of Students to Continue Study Says Pres. Smith By Pres. B. GLEN SMITH To many of this year's graduating gradu-ating class from the Dixie junior college the doors of institutions of higher learning may be closed, but others will continue on to school and widen their fields of learning before setting out upon the journey of life. Out of a graduating grad-uating class of thirty-five, but a very few of these may attend higher institutions of learning within the next year, to others the field of learning will be opened up within the next few years. The following students will undoubtedly un-doubtedly continue on to school next year. While several others have expressed the desire to continue con-tinue on and will eventually do so. He tied with (Stanley Schmutz of St. George as lollege valedictorian and many PWorable comments have been heard on the valedictory address Vhich he delivered at the commencement com-mencement exercises. He also received the social service pin giv-jn giv-jn by the St. George Chamber of commerce to the student render-s'ng render-s'ng the most service to the school and community during the two ;vears of college work. DeVere R. McAllister of Bland-ing Bland-ing received a scholarship to the Utah State Agriculural college where he intends to continue his schooling. Stanley Schmutz, college col-lege valedictorian, will continue school at the Brigham Young university. uni-versity. Denby Wade will attend the Brigham Young university. Denby has played outstanding basketball for Dixie during the last six years and has been an all-state forward for two of these years. It has been stated that he has never once been up before the elegibility or scholarship schol-arship committee during the length of time he has played here, which proves his ability not only as a ball player but as a scholar as well. Woodrow Dennett and Howard B. Schmutz of St. George will fulfill ful-fill missions in Germany. They will leave for the mission field within the next month. |
