The resolution, according to Mr. j Hafen, was formulated by the I selected committee whose mem- j bership included Supervisor Blaine L. Bettensen and Ranger James Baldwin of the Dixie National Forest; Fish and Game Wardens Ivy Stratton of Central and Claude Macfarlane of Cedar City; Grant Hafen, representing the Wild Life association of Washington county, and Guy Hafen, representing the cattle interests of the Dixie forest. Supervisor Bettensen has been delegated to carry the resolution to the Big Game Commission of Utah. Write Resolutions Based on their findings this committee is asking in the resolution resolu-tion for the removal of 900 female deer from the Dixie National Forest in addtiion to the regular removal of male deer during the hunting season, the time for removing re-moving the female deer to be the same as that for the male deer. It was the joint conclusion of these representatives that the range is" being overgrazed to this extenet in behalf of the other industries. The resolution further provides i that if the 900 female deer are not taken during the regular hunting season, thon the Forest officers and Fish and Game Commission must see to the removal of that number necessary to bring the count up to 900. The area designated for the removal of the 900 doe extends from the Forest line on the west, which is also the Nevada state line, east via Terry's ranch and along the south boundary of the Forest to Cottonwood canyon, thence over the east rim of the Pine Valley mountain to Page's ranch. "It was gratifying", states Mr. Hafen, "to note the cooperation of the representatives of these three industrial divisions of this section of the state, making possible pos-sible the unanimous agreement on the resolution. The entire attitude atti-tude expressed during the committee com-mittee special meeting and the general session was one of cooperative co-operative unity for serving the best interests of all concerned in the stock and game industries. |
