HYRUM IE ANY Mr. and Mrs. Hyrum Leany Celebrate Golden Wedding Anniversary Here May 15th May 15 marked the golden wedding wed-ding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Hyrum Leany, pioneers of Harris-burg, Harris-burg, and for many years past, residents of this city. To celebrate the occasion, their children held open house at the Leany home, Sunday, May 14, many relatives and friends calling during . the afternoon to congratulate them on their years of well-ordered life completed, and to wish them many more years together. Mrs. Leany was the daughter of Orin and Ann Cannon Woodbury and lived in St. George, where she was recognized for her scholastic attainments and eventually event-ually she became one of the young lady school teachers. Mr. Leany came with his parents to Harrisburg, and later became an active figure in the days of Silver Reef and in the history of cattle-growing and farming he made a place for himself as one of the more successful pioneers. He served as a deputy during the strike at Silver Reef and accompanied ac-companied the group of strikers to their hearing at Beaver. His life as well as that of his wife, is rich in historic interest. Following the visit of friends during the afternoon, the children chil-dren of this couple assembled at the home for the wedding anniversary anni-versary dinner and a program of songs, reading and tributes. Interesting In-teresting especially was the tribute tri-bute in verse written by their son, Culbert. They have a large family of children and grandchildren grand-children and both are happy at this time to be able to enjoy the association of friends, the comforts com-forts of a well-kept home, and the satisfaction of having made creditable . progress during this first 50 years of their teamwork. |
