Show ("iOINGS r. AT THE ST. GEORGE COO CAMP During the past week the camp was visited by Mr. Martin who is Regional Engineer in the Forest Service. He was accompanied accom-panied by Mr. Gurr, Forest Supervisor Su-pervisor of this District. Both of these men were luncheon guests of Lieut. Hines last Thursday. Thurs-day. Dr. E. F. Root of Salt Lake City, father of 1st Lieut. F. K. Root visited our camp Friday evening. Our game with Overton on March 10 resulted in an 8-7 victory vic-tory fo the St. George camp. Probably Loring Pugh's rooting had something to do with the score. The baseball game with Leeds on Sunday ended In a 7-7 tie at the end of the 7th inning because mess call was sounded. 'Mr. . Wesley T. Benson of Txv gan, Utah has been recently appointed ap-pointed Educational Adviser to this camp. His duties in general, will be the coordinating of the educational and recreational ac-! ac-! tivities of the camp. The class schedule is in full swing.. For some time the camp foremen have been active In teaching classes !n their own special fields. There are eight different subjects being taught by .the following men: Mr. Snow, Mr. Thomas, Mr Mangum, Mr. Kunz. and Mr. Critchlow. Mr. Oox put on a very Interesting movie Thursday. It dealt with subjects of up-to-date methodf used in harvesting lumber and also al-so the big game of the Rocky Mountain Region. Lieut. Scliettler left camp last Thursday. In his place comes Lieut. Charles E. Larkin, who previously served with the camp located near Moapa, Nevada. W wish Lieut. Schettler success ir his new endeavors and extend f hearty welcome to Lieut. Larkin. A little while before enrolling with the CCC Bert Butler war looking at an exhibition of mounted mount-ed storkes at a taxidermy show He seemed to be taking a great deal of interest in this part of thf display. As a result the Caretak er asked him why he was so attracted. Bert answered tha' he had discovered there Is not anything in this Santa Slaus stuff land he was just looking into this stork proposition. |
