Show ATHLETIC FUTURE FINEST DIXIE In checking over ttie Dixie college basketball prospects for next year we find that Reed Wilson is the only man that has used up his entire quarters that he is allowed at Dixie college. Among those who will graduate but still could play for the college col-lege are Cliford Stxatton, Howard Benson, Grant Whitehead and Clair Neagle. Captain Howard Church is also eligble for another year. This was Louis Pectols' first year on the squad so he has considerable time ahead that he could use. Paul Wilson, Ervin Schmutz, and Richard Sullivan are now freshmen. They will give some of the boys a run for their money next year if the are to be kept off the team. Those playing on the team are alloted seven quarters of play over a three year period. That is why some of the boys are still able to compete in basketball basket-ball even though they have graduated. grad-uated. Coach Hafen reports that the prospects look fine for a good track team this year, both at the college and high school. A fine competitive program has been lined up, with the high school having five meets and the college three. The high school will first attend at-tend the Bunkerville Invitational meet on April 14. They will follow this with the Las Vega? relays on April 28, the B. Y. U. Invitational meet, the Regional meet and the State meet. The college will have a dual meet here and at Cedar with the B. A. C. team. The final meet will be the Junior College Track and Field meet at Ogden. Starting with this week thf boys are out limbering up their muscles and getting ready for the competition ahead. The baseball base-ball team will also start practice. The boys have been throwing the ball around, but no serious work has been instituted as yet. The track team captains are. Reed Wilson for the college and Dilworth Lund for the high school. |
