Show GAY PARTY BY LEGIONNAIRES The party given for ex-service men and members of the Legion Auxiliary by the losing team in the recent drive for members, was one of the most enjoyable events ever held by the Legion. A large I crowd was in attendance including includ-ing members from nearby communities. com-munities. The party was a costume affair and participants came dressed in the styles of the nineties at least some did. Bustles, whiskers and plug hats predominated. The event had a decided western west-ern atmosphere. A portly bartender barten-der dispensed refreshments over a bar that brought back vivid memories mem-ories of a dim and distant past before the world was made safe for democracy or Volstead or something some-thing or other. This proved to be the most popular corner of the hall. Dancing, old new and indifferent, indiffer-ent, cards, roulette, "dominoes", etc., formed the pastimes of the evening. During intermission short talks were made by Mathew Bent-ley Bent-ley and Alfred Morris. Bryan Lund also made a brief speech. An orchestra composed of Dick Worthen, Alfred Morris, Miss Clesta Worthen, Howard Cannon, and LeGene Morris furnished the music. |
