Show RECOMMENDED FOR ANNAPOLIS A telegram was received Monday Mon-day by President Jos. K. Nicholes of the Dixie College from Representative Repre-sentative Don B. Colton, stating that an alternate appointment to the United States naval academy at Annapolis, Md., was open, and asking that the college recommend some student to fill the possible vacancy. The contents of the telegram were announced to the members of the fourth year high school class and the college students, with the result that nine boys signified sig-nified their desire to attend the famous institution if given an opportunity. op-portunity. A faculty committee, composed of B. Glen Smith, John T. Woodbury, Wood-bury, Jr., and Arthur K. Hafen selected the following three out of the nine applicants and their names were forwarded to Representative Rep-resentative Colton: Howard Cannon, Can-non, Henry Nicholes and Clyde Frost. The principal requirements for entrance to the military academy acad-emy are physical fitness and the applicant must be well grounded in mathematics and English. The entrance years are between the ag-es of 18 and 21. It was felt by the corrtmtitee that these thre? boys could well qualify. |
