Show BUN KE RVILLE , NEV. Our high school band is leaving leav-ing for Provo, Wednesday, to enter the state contest, which is being held there, April 19, 20 and 21. The band numbers fifty-eight students. A concert was given last night, which was very well rendered to an appreciative appre-ciative audience. Miss Mattie Bowler and Le-grand Le-grand Leavitt were married last week. The bride is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Bowler, of Mesquite, and the groom a son of Ernest Leavitt, of Little-field. Little-field. Invitations are out for a reception in their honor on April 18. A celebration in honor of the CCC members of this camp was given last Friday by members of this valley. The residents were taken to view the work done at the headgate of the canal and jetties that were built on each side of the river to control the floods which do so much damage to this valley. This work is thoroughly appreciated by the people of this valley. A baseball base-ball game in the afternoon, a band concert, a free picture show, and a dance at night with a good lunch included were the events of the day. The sacrament meeting last Sunday was given over to members mem-bers of the Aaronic priesthood to report conference at Salt Lake City. Talks were given by Ralph Harris, Ken Earl, Floyd Waite, Elmer D. Leavitt, and Max Abbott. Ab-bott. Elwood Hardy reported his trip to Reno as a member of the F. F. A. boys who entered the state contest there last week. Mrs. Leon Bowman and daughter, daugh-ter, Phyllis, of Los Angeles, are visitors at the home of her mother, mo-ther, Mrs. Lena Leavitt. Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Leavitt and family, of Alamo, spent Sunday Sun-day here. Mrs. Betsy Hardy, Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Hall, of St. George, were visitors here last Stinday. Many people from Littlefield, were here to attend the band concert given last Sunday evening. even-ing. The home economics class under un-der the supervision of Miss Sutherland Suth-erland will accompany the band to Provo, as a great number of the class are band members. |
