Show Nominations due for Folk Art The Utah Folklife Center is currently accepting applications for the second annual an-nual Governor's Award for Folk Art. This award, designed to recognize an individual in-dividual who has made a significant contribution con-tribution to Utah's cultural heritage through the practice of a traditional art form, will be presented at the Folklore Society Annual Meeting Aug. 20. Living folk or ethnic craftworkers, musicians, singers, storytellers or dancers are among those eligible for nomination. The award is not designed . to honor scholars, organizers, authors or volunteers who have made contributions to traditional art. Particular emphasis will be given to the artistic excellence, authenticity and traditional nature of the artist's work. The influence of the artist or his or her community, whether a religious, political or ethnic community, is also a primary consideration. The late Kenneth Ward Atwood of West Jordan, a fine storyteller and repository of songs about western frontier life, was the 1982 recipient.
