Carlow fired in two free throws for a 31-30 lead, but Baxter returned a one point lead of 32 to 31 to Provo due to a successful field goal. A free throw by High Haw k tied up the game at 32-32 and Baxter stole the ball from a Sioux player under the Blazer basket and Powless flipped in a shot for a 34-32 lead. A free throw by Vazzie increased the Provo lead to 35 to 32. A field goal by Provost sliced the Provo led to one point, but Vazzie Vaz-zie struck for one at the foul line for a 36 34 lead. However, four points by Carlow on a field goal and two free throws tied up the game at 31! points at the end of the first half. The game was tied early in the second half at 40-40 and then a fastbreak hoop by High Hawk and a free throw by Provost Pro-vost put the Sioux team ahead by three points at 43 40. Yazzie popped in two free throws to bring the Provo Blazers within one point at 43-42.
