Show POSTSCRIPT By Leona Patteson Everybody is served by the Post Office. Of-fice. However, most people aren't aware of postal policies and procedures. Post Script's purpose is to inform postal patrons about how the Postal Service operates and how these procedures effect Vernal. The Postal Service has two offices in Vernal. The main office at 92 West Main is a full service office. It is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 10 a.m. to 12 noon on Saturdays. The North Station, located at 266 West 200 North, is a post office box facility open 24 hours a day. The work day of a postal clerk starts early. Clerks begin arriving at 5:30 a.m. to sort the day's mail which is trucked from Salt Lake City to Vernal. The mail is hand sorted, by address, to one of 12 routes for carrier delivery. "Will this letter go out today?" Yes, mail is picked up from collection boxes daily. Those located on the corner of First West and Main Streets and those in the lobby of the main office are collected four times daily. Mail is dispatched to Salt Lake City twice a day. Mail received receiv-ed at the post office prior to 4 p.m. is sent by plane. Mail received by 5 p.m. is sent by truck.
