Morejein Woodlious earners ! wrestling championship A 1979 Uintah High School graduate, Morgan Woodhouse, toppled Wyoming's Tom Seamans, 4 to 1, for first place in the 134 pound championship cham-pionship match in the Western Athletic Conference wrestling tournament as a member of the Brigham Young University team, Saturday in Colorado Springs. Also placing first for BYU was Chris Taylor at 118 pounds. Taylor downed Mel Prof fit of Air Force, 13 to 4, for first place. BYU pocketed first place in the WAC tournament with 73 points and Wyoming netted second place at 57 V4 counters. Air Force placed third at 56 points and Colorado State nabbed fourth place at 4834 points. New Mexico netted fifth place at 44 counters. Chris Bell of Wyoming won the 126 pound crown when he won his match with BYU's Ed Snook due to a forfeit. Wyoming's Jimmy London, 142, placed first when he nipped New Mexico's Mike Baker, 7 to 6. Colorado State's John Fagen pocketed first place when he toppled BYU's Chad Teichert in overtime, 7 to 1. The match was forced into overtime due to an 8-8 tie. Lonnie Currier of Wyoming netted first place at 158 pounds due to a 7 to 2 deicison over Clarence Laster of New Mexico. Billy Boyd of BYU placed second at 167 pounds when he was downed by Dale Walters of Air Force, 10 to 2. Jeff Needs of BYU placed second when he was thumped by Gary Chadwick of Air Force, 10 to 1, in overtime. The match was forced into overtime due to an 11-11 tie. Kevin Sheesley of Colorado State placed first when he toppled Robert Steele of BYU, 12 to 2, in the 190 pound championship match. Kevin Jackson, heavyweight, New Mexico, decisioned BYU's Larry Hamilton, 4 to 1, for the heavyweight championship crown. Morgan Woodhouse, a Uintah High School graduate, garnered two victories in dual meets with Utah State University and Weber State College last week. Brigham Young University's 134 pounder, Woodhouse, blanked Jim Hamilton of Weber State, 6 to 0 and defeated Utah State's Dale Gardner, 11 to 3, for a major decision win. A 1980 Uintah graduate, Ken Cobbs of Weber State College was toppled by Larry Hamilton of Brigham Young University, 8 to 1, in the heavyweight match. Another Uintah graduate in 1980, Matt Hacking, is also a member of the Weber State team, but did not wrestle wres-tle in the meet with BYU. Brigham Young University defeated Weber State, 28 to 11 and Utah State University edged BYU, 18 to 14.
