Show Vernal Composite Squadron attends winter encampment Senior members and cadets of the Vernal Composite Squadron of the Civil Air Patrol attended winter encampment en-campment with members of several other squadrons from the Utah wing. The encampment was spoasored by the Nineteenth Special Forces Unit at Camp Williams near Rivertnn, Utah. The activities lasted from Feb. 6 to Feb. 8. The Vernal Composite Squadron is one of the newest units in the wing (state) and are proud to be associated with the Civil Air Patrol. CAP is an auxiliary of the U.S. Air Force whose functions consist of civil defense, search and rescue, and aerospace education. Some of the activities at the encampment en-campment were: building ice caves, drill off competition, skiing, snow and showing. Before the Vernal Squadron is able to have delivery of the new aircraft, they must raise a percentage of the cost. At the present time the squadron needs an additional $3,000. If these funds are not raised by March 15, they will lose the option on the plane and will be forced to depend on ill-equipped private aircraft for such things as search and rescue.
