Utah to face Japanese wrestlers A team of wrestlers from Japan will battle the Utah all stars in Vernal at Uintah High School, Dec. 30 at 7:30 p.m. The best 12 wrestlers in the state of Utah will be on the team. "It will be a very good meet. Vernal was chosen to host the meet because Vernal is the best wrestling area in Utah. Vernal will be the only city in Utah to host the team from Japan because only one meet will be held in Utah. It will be an outstanding night of wrestling and we would like to prove we are the best wrestling community in the state of Utah," stated Uintah coach, Chuck Henry. Season wrestling ticket holders will have to purchase tickets for this meet. Uintah will host Provo, Thursday at 5:45 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. and probable varsity starters are: 98-Jerry Tingey, 105-Brent Morrill or Mark Augustus, 112-Keith Campbell, 119-Seymore Bedonie or Wilbert Woody, 126-David Gentry, 132-Jeff Good, 138-Torr McCurdy McCur-dy or Kent Boren, 145-Bucky Tingey or Darrin Bailev. 155-Randy Smuin, 167-Pat Jenkins, 185-Jody Young and heavyweight, David Weeks. The Uintah junior varsity team will " host junior varsity teams from Steamboat Steam-boat Springs, Meeker, Rock Springs, Green River, Union, Pleasant Grove, and Altamont's varsity in the Uintah Tournament, Saturday. Weigh ins will be held from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. Probable Uintah junior varsity starters are: 98-Chris Smith, 105-Augustus or Morrill, Mor-rill, 112-Leslie Gorman, 119-Bedonie or Woody, 126-Larson Caldwell or Kary McNeil, 132-Brad Dickson, 138-Kent Boren, 145-Bucky Tingey, 155-Jamie Evans, 167-Jerry Haslem, 185-Scott Gardner and heavyweight-Barry Hancock. |
