Show Family Feelings-Holiday Feelings-Holiday Thoughts For Girls And Boys The holidays are tup posed to be a time for family fun, but family togetherness doesn't just happen. It take some planning. According to Dr. Karen Bartt, program director of Camp Fire, the national youth agency, these holiday activities can be lots of fun and can help strengthen family ties. Holiday Traditions Does your family have special holiday foods, special worship services or special decorations? Help girls and boys identify family traditions tradi-tions and understand why they are important. If you're doing something new this year, that could be the beginning of a new holiday tradition. Perhaps a decoration made by a child can be . used year after year on the door or above the mantle. Perhaps a new cookie or candy made by the family will become a holiday favorite for years to come. Family History Make a "family map." On poster board or a large piece of butcher paper, mark tho dates of key events In the family's history, such as the children's birth dates, special vacation trips or moving to a new house. The "map" gives the whole family a senso of where they've been together and where they're going. The holidays are also an ideal time to got out the family photo album. If children have brothers and sisters, they can add them, too. Add grandparent as the next set of branches, then great grandparents. Complete the tree with leaves and blossoms and a few nuts!
