Tn an effort to resolve the problem of Mott's qualifying for the board, district attorneys have been meeting with board members this week. In the Maeser Water Improvement District the two incumbents Douglas Lawson and Lorin (Pudge) Merkley regained their positions on the board. Their two contenders Roger Hacking and Corey Grua ran on the platform of one treatment plant for the entire valley, opposed to two now planned by Maeser and the Ashley Valley Culinary Water Users Association. Lawson received 280 votes, Merkley received 289, Hacking received 84 and Grua received 114. Receiving the most votes in the Jensen Water Improvement District were Meril Snow with 62 votes and Richard Tolley with 57 votes. Others receiving votes in the Jensen Water Improvement District were Lynn Morrill with 52, John Rasmussen 44, Snow and Bill Thompson, 26, Devier Dudley 10 and Ken Jennings with six votes. The large number of candidates in the Jensen election can be attributed to a drastic increase in population in Jensen and the need for water services. |
