Show C Manila Clara Robinson Phone 784-5333 Special Forces entertain Manila residents The 1st Special Forces Battalion, 19th SPFG (Airborne) invited all the Manila residents and visitors to an open house -demonstration at the Manila School baseball field at 6 p.m. Saturday, June 27. Activities were helicopter rap-pelling, rap-pelling, stabo extraction and airmobile and Special Forces team display. Cement was poured last week for the foundations of the new addition at the Manila LDS Church. A water shortage for the town of Manila started Friday, June 19 and continued to exist for those people living at the highest levels of the town until the weekend. Most of the people had continuous supply by Wednesday. Those at the lower levels were never without water and this is most of the people in Manila. Notices were posted telling people that due to the water shortage, they were being asked not to do any more outside watering until the storage tanks were filled again. It is hoped that the .41 inches of rain which fell Saturday will help lawns and flowers to keep from burning while the water is short. It has been very dry with temperatures reaching as high as 96 degrees above zero with a 25 mile an hour wind day after day through most of June. Mr. and Mrs. Clifford A. Christensen, Brigham City, were in Manila this weekend to attend the wedding of their grandson Curt Reed Saturday evening. The Christensens were Manila area residents for many years. Also attending at-tending the wedding were Mr. and Mrs. Louis Youngberg. Mrs. Youngberg is the former Lura Jean Christensen. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Caldwell of Tooele attended the Renig-Reed wedding Saturday. Kenneth Reed, Ogden, was in Manila for his nephew Curt Reed's wedding. Mr. Reed retired as Daggett County Sheriff after many years of service and moved to Ogden three years ago. Mr. and Mrs. Dean Cook and children have moved to their new home near McKinnon, Wyoming. There were many fishermen and vacationers in Manila the past weekend. Sunday the LDS chapel was overflowing. Bill Carter, Manila High School social studies teacher, is home from summer school. Visiting Mr. and Mrs. Stan Stewart last week were Stan's parents from St. George. |
