HORNER Smith's manager dies of heart attack Richard Walter Horner, 34, manager of Smith's in Vernal, died June 24, 1981 of a heart attack at his residence in Vernal. Born September 22, 1947 in Eagle Rock, Calif., he was the son of Walter F. and Marjorie Brown Horner. He married Jacqueline Zundel, July 31, 1970 in the Los Angeles LDS Temple. He graduated from the University of Southern California with a degree in marketing. He was assistant manager of a Smith's store in Foxhills, Calif., for two years and a manager for one year. He was also a manager of a Smith's store in Los Felis for one year. Upon moving to Utah, Horner was assitant manager of the Smith's Sugar House 23rd No. and 9th East store for eight months. He then opened the new Smith's store in Payson where he was manager for one year. He then moved from Payson to the Vernal store. He was manager of the Vernal store since last March totaling six years with Smith's. He is remembered by employees em-ployees and co-workers for his positive influence; being highly respected and loved. He was a member of the LDS Church. He loved to snow ski, hunt, fish and play baseball. He was a member of the Vernal Chamber of Commerce. Survivors are wife, Salem; three daughters, one son, Bernadette, Tracey, Jennifer, and Benjamin Richard; father, Walter Horner, Riverside, Calif.; and brother, Robert Horner, Riverside. A son, Jeffrey Walter, preceded him in death. Funeral services were last Saturday, June 27, in the Salem 1st LDS Ward Chapel. Burial was in the Salem City Cemetery.
