Show 4-H camp held June 23-24 Marjean Oviatt, 4-H Ambassador 4-H camp was held June 23 . 24 and 25 at Iron Springs. The clubs participating were Tangy Turnovers, Silly Sewers, Stitch and Sew, Aprons and Jeans, Merry Makers, 4-H Inc., Jensen Better Livestock Club, What's Next?, Buttons and Spoons, Super Club, No Name Nobodies and Bouncing Bobbins and Beaters. The camp officers for this year are Mayor, Susan Stoll; Council, Brett Baker, Neil Brighton, Steven Lind. Chara Serre, Christine Rasmussen, Philip Oviatt and Joelle Oviatt. During the camp Steven Cox, Uintah County Extension Service agent, explained ex-plained the 4-H Forestry Project. Jennifer Amodt told about her goat project. Marc Dighman told about his chicken project and Brian Snow told of his lamb project. Recreation by Irene Wayland's club, Bouncing Bobbins and Beaters, included in-cluded a water balloon toss, a soda cracker whistle contest and a taffy -britches contest. A 4-H Trading Post was created by Doris Humphrey's club, the No Name Nobodies. Elaine Walton was in charge of crafts. The 4-H'ers had a choice of furry creatures, god's eyes and cloth mobiles. Steven Cox worked with the 4-H'ers in archery. The Ashley Valley National Forest Service judged the camps for safety and cleanliness. The cleanest camp was 4-H inc. The safest camp was a four-way tied between Stitch and Sew, Tangy Turnovers, Tur-novers, Buttons and Spoons and Silly Sewers. The best nametag was Jensen Better Livestock Club. Jensen also won the participation award. The 4-H camp officers for 1982 are Mayor, Marjean Oviatt; Assistant Mayor, Malinda Wayland; Chief Justice, Neil Brighton; Council, Chara Serre, Evette Massey, Tara Hunting and Joelle Oviatt. |
