Show C Manila .Clara Robinson Phone 784-3463 Sweetwater-Daggett Sweetwater-Daggett County Fair Aug. 6-10 Next week is the Sweetwater-Daggett County Fair to be held at the Rock Springs Fairground Aug. 6-10 Nearly all of Manila area residents are involved in-volved in one way or another. Some have children who will be entering livestock or home economics projects in the fair. Others will be exhibiting garden produce, fruits, sheaths, cooking, canning, or art work at the fair. The M&L Homemakers Club is in charge of the Manila Community Booth at the fair this year. Vegetables, sheaths, and fruits are to be taken to the Senior Citizen Center from 1 to 4 p.m. on Wednesday, August 6. Exhibitors are asked to have exhibits cleaned, wrapped and tagged. They will be kept in a cool place and taken by truck early the next morning to the fair. Mr. and Mrs. Kirby Anderson are parents of a girl born July 24, in the Cottonwood Hospital in Salt Lake City. The little miss weighed 8 pounds and 5 ounces at birth and will be named Jamie Lee. He paternal grandparents are Elmo and Zona Anderson of Emery, Utah. Her maternal grandparents grand-parents are Scot and Vione Mitchell of Manila. Mrs. Duane Lamb is home again after spending a week at the home of her niece, Mrs. Jim Belliston in Logan. Mr. and Mrs. Jim Belliston are parents of a daughter born this month in Logan. She weighed 6 pounds 12 ounces at birth and will be named Elise. Mr. and Mrs. L.P. Biorn of Manila are the parents great grandparents. Mrs. Lamb and Mrs. Burl Twitchell are her great aunts. Mrs. William Briggs Sr.'s sister and brother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Whitney of Burbank, Calif., are visiting with the Briggs this week. Old timers will remember Mrs. Whitney as Jeannette Marshall. Sheriff Gaylen Jarvie left early Monday morning to go to Idaho Falls, Idaho to bring back his wife and new son. Sheriff Jarvie's mother, Mrs. Douglas Jarvie, who is tending the other son, will stay with them a few more days. Word was received in Manila that Mrs. John (Florence) Briggs passed away on July 24. Mrs. Briggs was living in ugden at tne time she became ui, but was taken to Dillon, Montana by her children and hospitalized for 2 weeks before her death. Funeral services were held in Dillon on Monday, July 28. Graveside services were held in Ogden, Tuesday, July 29, before burial there. Mrs. Briggs is the sister-in-law of Bob and Bill Briggs of Manila. Mr. and Mrs. Glen Hancy and their sma'l son Jared are visiting relatives in Orem, Utah this week. Mr. and Mrs. Howard Low and their daughter and son-in-law were in Manila last week on a camping trip. While here they visited with Low's uncles Bob and Bill Briggs and other relatives. Mr. and Mrs. Riley Robinson and sons Richard, Sean, and Michael and Richard's friend, Mike of Placentia, Calif., are visiting at the home of Riley's parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Robinson. Mr. and Mrs. David Larsen and sons and Mr. and Mrs. Norman Larsen of Salt Lake City visited in Manila last week. While here they attended the Cow Country Rodeo. Members of the Lucerne Valley Livestock 4-H Club met at the Daggett County Corrals Friday, July 25, at 9 a.m. The stock was weighed as well as groomed and exhibited by the members. mem-bers. This meeting was under the direction of Ben Stockwell, Sweetwater County 4-H Youth Advisor. Just sheep and calf project members were there. There is one swine project member, but he was unable to attend. Local leaders assisted Stockwell. Slips were signed by local leaders stating that the member entering was eligible to enter his stock at the Sweetwater-Daggett County Fair on Aug. 6. Denise Ham, Sweetwater County Home Economist, held a style review clinic for 4-H members who will be entering the style review at the Sweetwater-Daggett County Fair on July 30. Clothing will be judged that day. This year the member making the exhibit will be interviewed while judging the garment. It is hoped each girl will model her outfit before the construction of the garment is judged. Forms for entering the style review were given to the leaders for the girls, also, slips showing the girls' eligibility for the contest were distributed. Miss Ham showed the girls how they would model their clothing this year and let them practice. The Nimble Needles 4-H members are to be ready for judging at 3 :30. They are expected to be at the grounds about half an hour earlier and have their pictures taken and their papers ready. |
